FAQs

Q: How does geothermal heating and cooling work?

A: Underground constant day and night, day-to-day, year-round (summer and winter) steady temperature of 55 degrees Fahrenheit (1) allows geothermal heating and cooling systems to be the most efficient systems available, bar none.

Q: How is installation completed?

A: Ground source Geothermal Systems are usually installed using 5" or 6" bore holes down about 400 to 500'.  A geothermal specified custom manufactured HDPE plastic pipe, in and out closed loop, is inserted and grouted into the borehole topping off below the frost line and interconnected into the building.

Q: What financial benefit should you expect?

A: Usually resulting in savings of 25% to 45% lower utility bills, sometimes higher. Declared by the US Dept of Energy to be the most efficient heating and cooling systems available.

Q: Is geothermal equipment difficult to find and service?

A: All the major system manufacturers now make geothermal units -- Trane, Carrier, Bosch, Aaon and many specialty manufacturers such as Climate Master and Water Furnace. And all types of units, including Air Heat Pumps, Water-to-water Hydronic Heat Pumps, Chillers, Rooftop Units and PTACs.
